Printed forms use Beacon’s waitlist processing, where items to be processed are loaded into a list, from which another process (in this case, the for printer) extracts items to do and processes them.
Definition of each printed form includes such information as:
file reporting from
waitlist to get IDs from
colours and fonts to use
dictionary ID of each data cell to show
panels on the form
controls on each panel
A visual designer helps users to lay out cells on the printed form.
During operation, user is shown:
items waiting to print
items printed this session
User actions may include:
print all items waiting
reprint a printed item
find an item to print
preview an item
